A strategic project under control that meets the deadlines

Securing Development Lead Times with Critical Chain Project Management

In this video, Cédric Teresa, Site Director at Expliseat, shares the company’s experience with the implementation of Critical Chain Project Management and the Theory of Constraints.

This approach was initially used to manage a strategic project: the development of a new seat. It was then extended to the company’s entire portfolio of development projects.

In a context marked by demanding customer expectations and particularly tight deadlines, the teams structured their project management practices around several key elements: building schedules, identifying critical tasks, monitoring project buffers, and establishing regular management routines. A weekly portfolio review is used in particular to adjust priorities and anticipate potential delays.

Cédric Teresa also introduces the concept of the “focus room.” This mechanism is designed to reduce multitasking and focus the teams when a project begins to deviate from its expected trajectory. The teams involved temporarily concentrate their efforts on priority deliverables in order to accelerate execution and secure deadlines.

This organisation has improved visibility on priorities, facilitated decision-making, and enabled resources to be focused on the most critical actions to ensure better control of development lead times.
