Critical Chain 2024 Conference - Smoothening military aeronautical MRO operations with Critical Chain

Implementation of Critical Chain to improve overall aircraft availability

and reduce TurnAround Time (TAT)

Selim Ben Mlouka and Christian Schan from Marris Consulting presented at the Critical Chain 2024 conference on how Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) can optimize the management of military aircraft maintenance portfolios.

CCPM facilitates balancing workload and resource allocation, reducing multitasking and queue times, which improves Turnaround Times (TAT). This method involves sequencing the maintenance of upcoming aircraft, identifying a critical chain for each aircraft, and facilitates the tracking of work progress and deadlines. The "Fullkit" principle is applied to check the availability of necessary elements (parts and documents) and resources before starting working on tasks to ensure optimal working conditions. Buffer management is also integrated to reduce uncertainties and ensure the timely completion of the planned maintenance activities.
